BEER FACTOIDS

  • India Pale Ale
India Pale Ale (IPA) was first brewed in Britain in the 18th century to be sent to colonists in India. In order to survive the extended trip to the sub-continent, IPAs were high in alchohol content and heavily-hopped to help preserve the beer.

06/12 MRBC TAKES 3 MEDALS AT MOUNTAIN BREWERS BEERFEST

MRBC took 2 golds and a silver in the North American Brewers Association awards tonight, which is held in conjunction with the Mountain Brewers Beerfest.  Two different versions of our Scotch Ale took gold and silver.  Copper John Scotch Ale took the gold medal, while a lighter version of the brew, dubbed 58 Schilling, grabbed the silver in the Scottish-style category.  In the American-style Barley Wine competition, the 2009 Frostbite Barley Wine earned the top step on the podium.
