  • Wet Your Whistle
    Centuries ago in England, pub visitors used a novel innovation that enabled them to get their beer served quickly. They used mugs with a whistle baked into the rim, the whistle being used to summon the barmaid. It has been suggested this practice gave birth to the phrase "wet your whistle."

06/12 MRBC TAKES 3 MEDALS AT MOUNTAIN BREWERS BEERFEST

MRBC took 2 golds and a silver in the North American Brewers Association awards tonight, which is held in conjunction with the Mountain Brewers Beerfest.  Two different versions of our Scotch Ale took gold and silver.  Copper John Scotch Ale took the gold medal, while a lighter version of the brew, dubbed 58 Schilling, grabbed the silver in the Scottish-style category.  In the American-style Barley Wine competition, the 2009 Frostbite Barley Wine earned the top step on the podium.
